After their marriage in 1946, Alvie & Mildred began establishing the
Lazy A ranch, 20 miles south of Sterling City. Having to open 7
gates to get to her teaching job, Mrs. Cole made the trip into Sterling
City each day while Mr. Cole preformed the daily chores and began building
barns and pens for livestock. In the evenings Alvie would rope
calves with Mildred always close by releasing calves to be roped. At
the end of the day Mr. Cole would put his saddle carefully in the mesquite
tree (no barns were built yet) and they would head in the house. It
was early to bed due to the long hours worked and the fact there was no
electricity to the home in the beginning. |
With a great deal of hard work and dreams, they turned their
homesteaded ranch into a show place. The Coles along with their family invite
you to come experience the beauty and tranquil setting at the.............
Lazy A Hide-A-Way.
